PRETZELS


These Homemade Soft Pretzels are fluffy and buttery, baked up just like the ones you get at the mall, but homemade from scratch! This is one of the easiest ways to prepare homemade soft pretzels and the results are extra delicious! Freshly baked and golden brown. After spending so much money on those Mall bought pretzels, I thought I’d try making some myself.

Ingredients:

For Dough:

  • Flour 1⅕ cups
  • Butter ⅖ cup
  • Sugar ½ cup
  • Egg ½
  • Vanilla extract

For Glaze:

  • Egg yolk 1
  • Water 1 tsp

Method:

  • In melt butter & add sugar, one half at a time. Beat well.
  • Add egg & vanilla essence & beat.
  • Fold in sifted flour with wooden spoon.
  • Form dough into a ball & put it in a plastic bag. Refrigerate for 20 minutes to rest.
  • Divide dough into halves. Cut into ⅘ inch slices. Shape each piece into 8 inches long thin roll. Twist into pretzel shape.
  • Place pretzels on greased sheet. Brush with diluted egg yolk. Bake in a preheated oven at 345°F – 365°F for about 12-13 minutes.
  • Sprinkle sugar & serve.
